Augusta Chronicle - Graham's Rival Talks Economy, Free Trade

About 20 members of the Aiken Ron Paul Campaign for Liberty met at Bobby's BBQ in Aiken County on Thursday night to show their support for Bob Conley, a Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate.

Mr. Conley, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., is running against incumbent Lindsey Graham.

"He went for months and months without even acknowledging my campaign," Mr. Conley said about his opponent. "We have 19 days in order to say adios, Graham-nesty."

Mr. Conley addressed several issues, including Mr. Graham's position on the $700 billion bailout, which he says could be considered amnesty for Wall Street.

"I'm sick and tired of the middle class having to subsidize tax cuts for Wall Street," he said, accusing Mr. Graham of voting for the bailout because he has received $2.5 million from corporate lobbyists.

Mr. Conley said Bush economics are the reasons retired individuals are forced to go back into the work force, commenting that the economy "inflated by 10 percent in one week because the president came out and gave his Chicken Little speech."

Mr. Conley also said he advocated the U.S. withdrawing from all free-trade agreements and returning jobs to Americans.

"The man has voted eight times to import foreign nationals for professional jobs," he said about Mr. Graham.
